| GOLDEN
BOYS PLAYING RULES |
Approved by the Board August 16, 1996 |
| 'MAJORS' ELIGIBILITY To be eligible to participate in a major or limited participation event, you must have signed up and played in at least 10 regular Wednesday play days during the 12-month period prior to the posted cut-off date of the scheduled event. Limited participation events are defined as: Any event where the number of participants are limited by space available, such as but not limited to: Interclub Play, Home & Home Play. New members not members long enough to establish a history or members who had a serious illness that prevented them from taking part in 10 Wednesday events can and will be given special considerations. Wednesday play is tracked and recorded by the golf chairman. This Golden Boy regulation was approved at the 2000 annual meeting. ETIQUETTE Simply put, etiquette is courtesy to other players and care of the course. COURTESY (1) Sign up for Wednesday play no later than noon Tuesday. (2) Call and cancel no later than 8:00 AM Wednesday, if you can't play. (3) Arrive at the club at least 30 minutes before tee time. (4) Be ready to play as soon as it is your turn - DON'T WASTE TIME! (5) When a fellow competitor is addressing, or playing his ball, no one should move, talk or stand close to, or directly behind the ball or the hole. (6) Be ready to play without delay, if "cart path only" take the club you think you will hit, plus one more & one less. If on the green, line up your putt as soon as possible, without disturbing other players. (7) When play of a hole has been completed, immediately leave the green, mark your score at the next tee. (8) Keep up with the group ahead of you. The pace of play should average 14 minutes per hole, which is 4 hours 12 minutes per round. If you can't maintain this pace, and there is a hole open ahead of you, stand aside, and let the following group play through. CARE OF THE COURSE (1) Observe cart path only and 90 degree rules. For shotgun starts, determine the condition in effect before proceeding to your starting hole. (2) On both tees and fairways, replace or "kick in" divots and fill with sand. (3) Rake, or smooth bunkers properly. (4) Repair ball marks on the greens, yours and others (without unduly delaying play). (5) Take care not to damage greens by "dragging" feet, or in removing your ball from the cup, and "tending" the flagstick. (6) Keep carts completely on the cart path near all tees and greens, especially on a hill or grade. Many places on the course, carts have killed the grass at the edge of the cart path and rain runoff has washed deep ruts. We all can, with very little effort, help to improve the condition of the course, and make the game a lot more enjoyable for all players, while keeping playing time under 4 hours 30 minutes. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciate. FOURSOME CAPTAIN Each foursome will have a team "captain" who will be selected by the team. The captain will be responsible for making sure all USGA rules are being complied with to all rules set forth by the Golden Boys. (1) The foursome captain will make the final decision on all rules discussions in his foursome. (2) The foursome captain -will collect entry fees from his foursome and submit it with the scorecard to the monthly captains. Scorecards must be dated, signed, and include each player's correct total score and all pertinent information in accordance with that day's format. (3) It is also the responsibility of the foursome captain to insure that the scores for his group (adjusted for equitable stroke control if necessary) are posted in the computer, and the scorecard is so marked. MULLIGANS Mulligans are allowed only on the first hole played. If a mulligan is taken, it is the ball in play. Should the mulligan be deemed possibly lost or out-of bounds, a provisional ball should be put into play. If the mulligan be in bounds or not lost, it is the ball in play. PREFERRED LIES. In your own fairway only, you may move your ball one club length not nearer to the hole. BALL LOST OR OUT-OF-BOUNDS If there is a possibility your ball may be lost or out-of-bounds, to save time, play a provisional ball. If you cannot find your ball or find that it is out-of-bounds, and you did not play a provisional ball, you MUST return to the spot from which you last played, replay the shot and add a two-stroke penalty. SLOW PLAY. The pace of play for both courses is established at 4 hours 10 minutes, an average of 14 minutes per holes. The foursome captain is responsible for urging his team to keep pace with the group ahead. The first group must maintain the 14 minutes per hold pace. LOCAL RULES. (1) Bushes denoting yardage to the greens shall be treated as immovable obstructions. Swing and stance relief only, plus 1 club length (No penalty). (2) All flower beds (including shrubs in beds) on the course shall be treated as ground under repair. For all other mulched areas, play the ball as it lies. (3) Anywhere "through the green", a ball embedded in its own pitch mark may, without penalty, be lifted, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it lay, but not nearer the hole. (4) When using a drop circle, the ball may be placed in the drop circle. (5) A ball striking a utility pole or wire on the course MUST be replayed (no penalty). (6) A ball coming to rest at any point not on the golf course property is OUT-OF-BOUNDS. If the golf course property boundary is not clearly defined, and in the absence of stakes or markings, or clear evidence that the ball lies on personal or public property adjoining the golf course, play the ball as it lies. (7) A ball coming to rest in a bunker, in deep "washed out' ruts, on bare ground, or in standing water, (following a heavy storm, ONLY until the ground crews are able to restore normal playing conditions), may be dropped without penalty, in the bunker as near as possible to the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole, at a point that affords maximum available relief from the condition. (8) Selection of weekly play format shall be consistent with Board approved games as listed in the monthly Captains file. 9) Through the green, if your ball is on an embedded rock or exposed root, or your swing is affected by same, you may move your ball to the nearest point of relief along the line of flight to the pin, no nearer to the hole, without penalty. (10) Worn areas immediately adjacent to the sides of the golf cart path shall be considered as part of that golf cart path. SPECIAL CONDITIONS - LINKSIDE (1) A ball coming to rest in, or left of, the creek on the left side on Number 1 fairway shall be deemed to be in the lateral hazard. This hazard has only one boundary. You may use the drop circle as an additional option to rule 26 (1 stroke penalty). Note: When the creek turns into the fairway, it is no longer left of the fairway. (2) A ball coming to rest in the tunnel left of Number 2 green and not beyond the out-of-bounds marker, shall be treated as ground under repair. Use the drop circle (no penalty). If out-of-bounds, use the drop circle and add 1 stroke penalty. (3) On hole Number 10, the entire length of the hole on the right side is played as a lateral hazard. The boundary, if not otherwise clearly marked, is the right edge of the mown rough. (4) If a ball comes to rest out of bounds beyond Number 11 green, you may use the drop circle, and add 1 stroke penalty. (5) If a ball comes to rest in the pond beyond Number 13 green, or in the pond on Number 14, you may use the drop circles as an additional option to rule 26, (1 stroke penalty). 6) On hole Number 16, the wooded areas on both sides of the entire fairway are played as lateral hazards. The boundaries if not otherwise clearly marked, are the outer edges of the mown rough. SPECIAL CONDITIONS - CREEKSIDE (1) On holes Number 7 & 8, drop circles are located just short and to the left of each green, as an additional option to rule 26 (1 stroke penalty). (2) On holes Number 10 & 18, the street curbing on the right side of each hole is OUT-OF-BOUNDS. Any ball coming to rest beyond the street curbing on the hole being played is OUT-OF-BOUNDS. A ball coming to rest against the street curbing is not out-of-bounds and may be dropped within one club length, no closer to the hole, without penalty. (3) On hole Number 12, the entire length of the hole on the left side is played as a lateral hazard. The boundary, if not otherwise clearly marked, is the left edge of the mown rough. (4) On hole Number 13, the drainage ditch on the right side of the fairway is a lateral hazard. The boundary, if not otherwise clearly marked, is the right edge of the mown rough. (5) On hole Number 17, drop circles are located both left & right at the front of the green. You MUST use the one on the side you entered the hazard as an additional option to rule 26 (1 stroke penalty). MONDAY & FRIDAY PLAY Play on Mondays and Fridays will be recognized as a Golden Boys activity, with the following clarification: (a) No optional mulligans. (b) All current Golden Boys rules of play will be in effect. (c) Entry fees will be the same as Wednesday. (d) A hole-in-one on Monday or Friday will also take the kitty. Monday and Friday Captains will be VOLUNTEERS and will abide by the following general rules: (1) Foursomes will be formed by drawing cards as follows: (a) One ace will be removed from the deck and this spot will be taken by the Captain. (b) The four same cards drawn will become a foursome. (c) If the format is a two man team, the red cards will be partners, and the black cards will be partners. (d) Starting hole assignments will be in numerical sequence, with aces being the first foursome. There will be no twosomes or fivesomes, and any threesomes will be first. (2) The game for the day is at the discretion of the captain, and is not limited to the list of games for play on Wednesdays. (3) Foursome captains (as selected by the foursome) will have the same responsibilities as on Wednesdays. GUIDELINES FOR MONTHLY CAPTAINS All players are requested to call in, or sign up for play no later than 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday. However, we are all human and sometimes forget, or the pro shop may be distracted when taking a call, and forget to add someone to the sign-up sheet. We may also sign up early, and for some reason cannot play, but forget to call and cancel. There are also times when weather conditions cause
"last minute" decisions to change plans, which we must accommodate. Therefore,
as it is our policy that all members be permitted to play in weekly tournaments, the
following procedures are to be used to expedite last minute changes. APPROVED BY THE BOARD 9/18/96 |
